Henry Larsen

1940 - 1942

The Norwegian-Canadian completed the first west to east navigation through the Northwest Passage on his ship the St. Roch, the first vessel to circumnavigate the Northwest Passage.

Roald Amundsen

1903 -1906

This Norwegian adventurer was the first to navigate the Northwest Passage by ship, which he did (east to west) in his tiny boat, the Gjoa with help from his friends the Inuit.

Sir John Franklin

1845

Naval officer and bold Arctic explorer, best known for his failed 1845 expedition, of which none of his crew ever returned from the two ships Erebus and Terror. It took over a decade to find traces of the voyage and to this day researchers continue search for remnants.
